In 2006 we provided 2,646 people with 1,075 boxes of food.  In 2007 we served 2,897 people.   In 2008 we served 1,446 families.  These families consisted of 3,646 individuals, 1,085 of whom were children.  Twelve of these families were in either crisis or travelling through our area and needed assistance on an emergency basis.  Of these, five were travelers who had run out of food while heading for Portland, Boise, Salt Lake City, or beyond and needed food for their children and themselves.

The majority of our recipients are single individuals who are on Social Security, Social Security Disability, or assistance of various types.  Each month the number of families receiving commodities at the Bread of Life is increasing by an average of 20%.  Food has been given out to as many as 147 families in one month.   The average cost of food for each month was $650.00, but is increasing monthly.  We have found it necessary to increase this amount by 20% to correspond with the increase of applicants.
